This Weds Not a meme challenge came from Mera! Check her blog out here!
"This week's challenge is to support a cause in SL that is important to you."
I am just going to say that I did something... not as much fun if you go shouting to the roof tops what you are up to. Eudy knows... someone else knows ... and thats all that needs to know :)

Not A Me Me #11 - Voice and Second Life
Dixie was up this past Sunday! Check her blog out here!
Basic Question is this...
How will voice chat effect Second Life and will you use it?
I'm not sure if bring voice to second life will be good for me. I am a little hard of hearing and might be stuck trying to hear what is being said and misundertanding when reading it all might just be easier.
I could of course chose not to use it but how much of the conversation will I be missing? It will be a catch 22. Darned if I try to hear and darned if I don't I think.

Not-a-meme Challenge #10 - Answer
Here I am again dashing an answer in under the wire! Pretty bad when I'm the one who asked the question! :D
In Sept of 2005 I found an article on MSNBC about a virtual community that was raising money for Katrina victems. How cool is that I thought! So I googled the website and did some reading. I can remember IMing my dear friend known in world as Kethry Farina and saying that it looked interesting, sort of a mix of The Sims Online (Which I couldn't afford), and Animal Crossing (No didn't mean Furries lol).
I really had no clue what I was wandering into...
I have an IRC background, some forums, and a smidge of Palace. I don't really play other virtual world games(other then the sims which I seem to have stopped playing heheh) so all of this was very new to me and very exciting. I felt very overwelmed by what I saw and never thought I would be able to create the wonderful things I saw. It took me 6 months... no not to learn I picked that up rather quickly just needed the confidence to try.
Second Life is not at all like the sims or animal crossing, it has exceeded everything I thought it would or could be for me.

Not-A-Meme Challenge #10
Sorry I am posting this a little late :) Been sick, took cold meds got loopy, went and fell asleep :D
This round they asked me to post a question wheeee :) So here it is!
Everyone comes into second life with an expectation of some sort or another. What it is like... what you will do there. My question is how is Second Life like your expectations at that time and how is it different?
My answer soon!

Not-A-Meme Challenge #9
Tad behind the times again lol just getting this done under the wire...
This round was Coal's turn!
Read the full post here if your so inclined but it came down to this...what has SL brought to your RL?
If I wanted to be flippant I could say that it paid my power bill in Sept, that it bought my childrens Christmas presents in Dec, or that it help me make it through when money was tight this past month.
Don't think that was what Coal meant though... do you? :D
Second Life has brought back a sense of creativity that was squashed out of me before, it has helped return my self confidence, has brought me love as well.... and there you go.

Velvet Twilight
Here is a new take on my awakening set, done by request I present to you Velvet Twilight. Not sure why my pics look so fuzzy lately. Any advice out there? I also forgot to take a pic with the cropped top... just look at my awkaening set and imagine LOL :D.Not-a-meme Challenge Number 8
Running a lil behind on this one but here goes!
Shockwave whom I don't really know yet was asked to post this one... find the whole question here! It boiled down to this though... "What would you show your Grandmother in SL?"
Now I am one of those fortunate souls who has only lost one grand mother leaving five left! Now I don't think either of my great grandmothers would have a clue what I was trying to show them and would think it was just some sort of animated movie. My Dad's mom I think is afraid of computers :D. So that leaves my Moms step mom and my Fathers mom both who are computer savy! yaaaaaay. One grandmother I think would love to see how I create clothes in SL and would be facinated that a flat pic could become 3-D. I think I would show my other grandma how easy it is to "build" in SL. They would both walk away thinking I am either a genius or crazy.
Just for the record I am both! *laughs* :)

Not-a-meme Challenge #7 Find Someplace New!
This week it's Mera's turn!
"If you're like me–and judging by the severe lack of purple, that doesn't seem likely–but anyway, if you *were* like me, you'd tend to have a few regular places that you visit. So our challenge today, my dearies, is to go somewhere new and tell us about it."
As soon as I read that I had a fair inkling of where I needed to go!

Not-a-meme Challenge #6: Avatar & Identity
I've been quietly reading the Not-a-memes since they started actually. When I started this blog going I decided that I would join in. Then came Dol's challenge which I knew I would have no time for this week! It was an AWESOME challenge check it and the responses out here.
Dolmere Talamasca - Second Life "resident"
This weeks was Jacek's turn...
Personally, do you consider your avatar an extension of yourself, or a character you control?
Jacek Lives
Rose is me with a less boring name! I spent 3 hours crafting my avatar shape.... to look like an idolized (meaning no baby tummy hehe) me! If you look close the eyes are slightly too close together... my legs are long for such a short av but so it is with my offline shape. Yes I really am that pale in my offline life but will admit my second life makeup is better! (Yay Starley) Yes my hair is that long...yes it is curly... but perhaps not so red LoL. I'm sure you see what I am driving at now.
More important at least to me is how I talk, Rose is not a character.... I am me. I have enough on my plate with out having to try and keep myself in a character that isn't myself. I really don't understand that concept anyhow. Renee Roundfield once said that she felt our Second Life personas reflect what our souls are. I truly believe that. I only hope mine is worth knowing ;)
I do however feel sorry for those strange looking greifers.... imagine what THEIR souls are like?
:D
